Research Projects for Master of Genetic Counselling & Master of Genomics and Health students at University of Melbourne
The University of Melbourne is seeking research project proposals for students in the Master of Genetic Counselling (MGC) and Master of Genomics and Health (MGH) coursework programs. These projects, to be developed in 2026 and completed in 2027, will provide students with valuable research experience in genetic counselling practice, genomics and health profession, or genomic services.
Key Points:

Students will conduct independent empirical research studies

Projects may include interviews, focus groups, surveys, clinical audits, or variant curation

Each student will have a Project Advisory Committee for guidance including a content expert and methodology expert (the program can assist with facilitating this).

MGC students require a practicing genetic counsellor on their committee (the program can assist with facilitating this).

Project supervisors are eligible for guest honorary appointments at the University of Melbourne

2026: Students choose projects and develop research plans

2027: Data collection, analysis, and monograph submission
