Use of HGSA Genetic Counsellor
Registration numbers
Genetic counsellors that are registered with the HGSA Genetic Counsellor Board of Censors have a registration number, and can provide this as evidence of registration with our self-regulated governing body.
The HGSA Professional Issues Committee would like to encourage registered genetic counsellors to add their registration number to their signature block, or other identifying information.
Adding your registration number to your signature block offers several key benefits. Firstly, it provides title protection, ensuring that only those who are properly qualified and registered should use the professional title, thereby safeguarding the profession’s integrity. Secondly, it enhances your professional identity by clearly associating your credentials with your communications, which can build trust and credibility with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. Lastly, it promotes transparency, as it allows others to easily verify your qualifications and registration status, fostering an environment of openness and accountability. This simple addition to your signature block can significantly bolster your professional presence and reliability.
If you are a registered genetic counsellor, and do not know your registration number, or how to access it, you can use the following instructions to access this:
