The Rare Care Centre in Perth, Western Australia in collaboration with Syneos Health Communicaton, has launched a new rare disease animation and supplementary e-learning resource aimed at helping educators better support children living with a rare disease.
This project was inspired by a heartfelt letter from a young student living with a rare disease, who shared that their teachers lacked awareness of the impact their condition had on their day-to-day schooling. Unlike common conditions such as asthma and diabetes, information about rare diseases is often lacking in schools, leaving students feeling unseen and unsupported.
Developed in consultation with teachers and students, both with and without lived experience of rare diseases, the animation is designed to encourage discussion, compassion and greater understanding in classrooms everywhere.
The Rare Care Centre invites schools, educators, health professionals and advocacy organisations to share and utilise this free resource to help build more inclusive learning environments for all students.
