Call for Members - ClinGen Tandem Repeat Working Group
We are seeking volunteer members for the newly established ClinGen Tandem Repeat Working Group (TR WG). The group will report to and have representation on the ClinGen Variant Classification Working Group, which coordinates multiple efforts to develop recommendations and advance methodology for variant classification standards in collaboration with the ACMG/AMP/CAP/ClinGen working group for sequence variant classification. The TR WG will be co-chaired by Dr. Ryan Yuen (The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto), and we are also seeking expressions of interest for the second co-chair role.
The TR WG will work to develop:
- Criteria for the classification of tandem repeats, aligned with ACMG/AMP Standards
- Guidance for analyzing sequence data for tandem repeats and consideration of factors that influence pathogenicity
- Frameworks for evaluating tandem repeat variation at novel loci
Ideal candidates will have substantial experience in variant classification, tandem repeat biology or disease, and/or related computational and analytical approaches. Experience in ClinGen VCEPs or other Working Groups is not required, but is considered a plus.
Working Group member responsibilities and commitments:
- Attend one-hour monthly WG calls
- Engage in WG projects, which may involve additional meetings and offline work
- Follow ClinGen policies and procedures
Working Group co-chair responsibilities and commitments:
- Oversee and inform the goals and priorities of the WG
- Prepare for and co-lead one-hour monthly WG calls
- Communicate with the Variant Classification WG on progress
- Answer questions via email and/or occasional teleconference, as needed
- Follow ClinGen policies and procedures
