ASGC Prizes

There are three prizes for presenting work at the annual ASGC workshop or HGSA ASM.

  • The prizes will be judged at the 2010 ASGC workshop / HGSA ASM.
  • If there is no winner in a particular category, that prize money will not be granted or allocated to another category.
  • Recipients of prizes from the 2009 ASGC workshop / HGSA ASM will not be eligible for the current prizes.

1. Best Overall Presentation: two awards.

The best oral presentation will receive an award of $250.00 while the best overall poster will receive a prize of $125.00.

2. Student Prize*: one award of $125.00

The ASGC will also offer a prize for the best student* presentation (oral or poster).

The criteria for assessment for the prizes will include

  • Originality of work
  • Clarity of presentation
  • Relevance of work to genetic counselling profession
  • Significance of the work to genetic counselling practice

1. The completed application form should be sent to Susan Fawcett(ASGC Chair & 2010 HGSA Scientific Program Committee member) by 31st May 2010 for the ASGC annual workshop or HGSA annual scientific meeting for 2010.

2. If the abstract has been accepted, the eligibility of the applicant (who must be a current financial member of the ASGC) will be assessed by the 2010 ASGC workshop organizers. Student members are exempt from the two year ASGC membership rule.

3. Three confidential judges (chosen by the ASGC members of the ASGC workshop organising committee together with the ASGC Executive) will assess workshop or ASM presentations using agreed criteria.

4. The ASGC chairperson will award the prizes at the meeting (if possible) and the results will be published in the next edition of Linkage.

*Students will need to confirm they are bona fide students and should include appropriate documentation to this effect.
