Dear Genetics Colleagues,

Would you be free to present a talk to this year's cohort of clinical genetics fellows?

The CGATTC team aims to coordinate teaching sessions throughout the year for the clinical genetics fellows and we are currently in need of speakers.  The sessions are run Tuesdays at 3pm AEST for 45 to 60 minutes on at least a fortnightly basis and aim to provide a structured learning session to the group on a genetics topic. The cohort includes first year trainees through to final year trainees of varied experiences and we aim to encompass a breadth of both introductory and more advanced genetics topics throughout the year.

We have included a list below of topics we are seeking speakers for but are very happy to welcome any other themes too, including an area of active research for the speaker.

  • - Approach, important differentials and when to test for a common clinical genetics presentations (for example: cleft lip and/or palate, craniosynostosis, lateralised overgrowth, growth failure etc)
  • - Sessions centred around common presentations and management advice within specific areas of genetics (for example: cancer genetics, metabolic and/or mitochondrial disorders, immune and/or autoimmune conditions etc)
  • - Genetic counselling techniques and common pitfalls (for example: complex family situations, individuals from diverse backgrounds etc)
  • - Interpreting cytogenetics/molecular genetics results, variant curation, emerging testing techniques
  • - Pharmacogenomics and testing pathways in Australia
  • - Gene therapies

If you are interested in presenting a session to the group please contact us at [email protected].

Kindest regards,

The 2024 CGATTC Team
